Ok, I want money for my project. I've heard about rich people investing in projects. Now, my question, what exactly do rich people gain when they put money in someone's film? How can they profit? Why should they do it?

There's a rich man who saw our movies and he really likes them, but how can I get him to put money in one of our bigger projects?

well its an investment like any other, they invest in the hope they will own the rights to a successful film... Evil Dead cost 90k from its investors and becos it was a hit they got 3.5 times back whatever they invested.

added to this there are usually tax benefits of investing in such schemes but im not an accountant so i dont know the exact details. But it makes more sense to invest 10K into a venture that might make you some extra money than to keep 5K cos the other half has been taxed.

If say you need to raise 20k. You have four investors who each invest 5k. Investors should get half of what you make. So if you made 4 million bucks, you'ld get 2 million, and each investor should get 1/2 of a million + like say 20% interest on the return becuase if thay hadn't been investing in you, they would have their money sitting in the bank earning interest.

short films are funding by places such as the film council as a way of bringing through new talent. No one makes shorts to make money so you wont get private funding for it these days.

I dunno where you live, but that would determine where you apply for funding.
